DOUG'S PICK FOR WINNER: God, I hope so! I love this damn movie!
Best Picture: Les Miserables
Best Picture: Life of Pi
Best Picture: Lincoln
Best Picture: Silver Linings Playbook
WANZIE'S PICK TO WIN: Because I'd like to see a movie win that appears to be partially based upon my family. For anyone who says, people don't talk/act like that, you haven't been at my Mom and Dad's house in Connecticut on game day.
Best Picture: Zero Dark Thirty
Best Picture: Beasts of the Southern Wild
Best Picture: Amour
Best Actor: Denzel Washington, Flight
DOUG'S COMMENTS: He was GOOD and I know cause I know the the guy he was playing!
Best Actor: Bradley Cooper, Silver Linings Playbook
Best Actor: Hugh Jackman, Les Miserables
Best Actor: Daniel Day-Lewis, Lincoln
DOUG'S PICK FOR WINNER
WANZIE'S PICKS: He WAS Lincoln. (Or at least the Lincoln with whom we are all familiar from Disney's Hall of Presidents attraction.) I actually think Hugh Jackman deserves the award over Day-Lewis but they aren't going to give the Oscar to a musical theater performer from Broadway. Hollywood types are kinda snooty that way.
Best Actor: Joaquin Phoenix, The Master
DOUG'S COMMENTS: This movie is AWFUL!
Best Actress: Jennifer Lawrence, Silver Linings Playbook
DOUG'S PICK FOR WINNER.
Best Actress: Naomi Watts, The Impossible
Best Actress: Rachel Weisz, The Deep Blue Sea
Best Actress: Emmanuelle Riva, Amour
Best Actress: Jessica Chastain, Zero Dark Thirty
WANZIE'S PICK FOR WINNER:
I didn't even see this movie, but I just have a feeling.
DOUG"S COMMENTS: I would love for the ginger girl to win but I don't think it's gonna happen
Best Actress: Quvenzhane Wallis, Beasts of the Southern Wild
DOUG'S COMMENTS: Seriously?
Best Supporting Actor: Christoph Waltz, Django Unchained
Best Supporting Actor: Alan Arkin, Argo
Best Supporting Actor: Robert De Niro, Silver Linings Playbook
WANZIE'S PICK FOR WINNER: It should go to Tommy Lee Jones but the Academy loves them some De Niro.
Best Supporting Actor: Philip Seymour Hoffman, The Master
DOUG'S COMMENTS: This movie is awful!
Best Supporting Actress: Amy Adams, The Master
Have I mentioned this movie is AWFUL
Best Supporting Actress: Jacki Weaver, Silver Linings Playbook
Best Supporting Actress: Sally Field, Lincoln
DOUG'S COMMENTS: Seriously she was 30 years too old for the role and gave a mediocre performance
Best Supporting Actress: Helen Hunt, The Sessions
DOUG'S COMMENTS: Seriously? She already has one she DOESN'T DESERVE!
Best Supporting Actress: Anne Hathaway, Les Miserables
DOUG'S PICK FOR WINNER
WANZIE'S PICKS: Sally Field so deserves this award for her amazingly strong but restrained portrayal of Mary Todd Lincoln; But damn, that Anne Hathaway was incredible in Le Mis. It belongs to Field. But I believe they'll give it to Hathaway because nobody expected she could pull off this vocally demanding musical role as well as she did.
